1970 LWB 4X4 needs a lift kit!
Well I just got a 1970 LWB 4X4 and I know I want to lift it. I am thinking a 4" lift but I don't know who makes one for this year. If anyone knows where I could find lift kits for this year please let me know.

The tuff country springs will ride the best, they have a spring rate of 295 for a 4" kit. My rough country springs have a rate of 604, so you can see they should ride very well and flex very good too.

What kind of prices are we looking at? Are the SkyJackers way more?

im going off of expieriance also here , it sounds like tuff country would be a nice lift to but i have never rode in a truck with one , i do know we had a soft ride set up on a full size gmc and it felt like a car , it was very flexible without all the keys scarring up the dash everytime you hit a rock , i also read an article in petersons where they installed it on a 72 jimmy and they also agreed that it performed beyond theyre expectations, also gave great axle travel with an excellent comfortable ride

I have the 2" tuff country HD front springs and they are stiff. If I removed the bottom leaf (only dif between HD and EZ) than I think it would be a very good ride. I have an add-a-leaf in the rear. Rides real good with about 2000lbs in the back. LOL!

So you have a 2" lift and what size tires? I really like the way your truck looks, it has a real nice stance. Nothing too crazy but enought that people don't have to guess if it is a 4x4 or not. Please let me know what your set up is and where you got it.
I have a delema, I want to lift the truck but I forgot the garage is only so big. So I don't think the original plan of 4" lift and 35's will fit inside the garage. So do I go smaller and make it fit or say screw it and lift her and leave her outside? Any thought? As always, thanks for the help!

CF, it's a 2" HD tuff country front springs that netted about 3" of lift and in the rear I added a short add-a-leaf (Tuff country) and replaced a factory 1" block w/ a 2" block. I have pics in the link in my signature. The tires are 33" super swampers on 15x10 rims. The tires are almost 34" tall no rubbing. If I made the front springs EZ ride by removing the bottom leaf then the tires would probably rub. I believe skyjackers soft ride front springs net about 2.5" of front lift. I've had rugged trail and rancho lifts on other vehicles and they were stiff or stiffer than the front springs I have now. The next vehicle I lift wil probably get a skyjacker lift. My truck will fit through my 9x7 garage door.

I have a 4" tuff country ez-ride lift.I am running sx8000 shocks.My blazer rides better than it did stock.It will fit through my 6'10" [to the bottom edge of door]garage door.I have 35" bfg at.

Well I just moved into this older farm house and I measured the garage doors.... and they are only 6'4" so there isn't any room for hardly any lift or bigger tires!
Now what... no lift or leave her out of the garage!?!?!?

widest tire?
What is the widest tire that will fit with out rubbing on a stock suspension? Maybe I should just get meaner tires. Since I am limited on hight in the garage.

Leave it out of the garage and put a 8" skyjacker on it with 37" SSR's. I just ordered my lift 3 days ago for my suburban. Just my .02

CF, I had 325/60R15 tires on 15x10 rims and they rubbed. when the tires were on 15x8 rims they did not rub. I'd say go with 32-11.5R15 on 15x8 rims.

I have a 72 SWB with stock 1972 springs and NO lift
i have bf goodrich 32 x 11.50 on 15 by 8 centerlines absolutely no rub and looks good .... But i am considering the hummer 37's and a skyjacker lift someday

(and I know bigger is better ) but which combo makes more sence?

Definitly a 6" lift on that truck.A 4" lift with 35's will hit the fenders pretty hard off road.It would be fine for street.Thats a lot of flex,but it is a long wheel base.

I'd say 6" and 35s if you are going to twist it up. I've read through that article many times, they did a lot to force the articulation like that. That truck in my opinion is an inspiration to us all.

yea, that truck is inspirational, I need functionality, but I don't want to have the "huge lift - tiny tires" look, but 6" with 35's looks really sweet on that truck
