an engine ????
Ok well here is my question
 how do you replace cam bearings? like how do you get the old ones out and the new ones in????? Thanks for your help PS i need to get this truck running again so i can  Thanks RAT

Engine shops use a driver to remove and install cam bearings. Easiest way is to have a shop do it. Tool would cost too much unless you do alot of them. John

how much is a cam bearing tool? and yes the engine is out and all apart... ready to go to the machine shop once i get home from school for a weekend. i can't wait, but i need new bearings.... i want this engine to last a lot longer

If you are going to take it to the machine shop anyway its easier and cheaper to have them install the cam bearings while its there.
But if you insist on doing it yourself the tool runs around $200+ check here .

you can get bearings R&R and supplied for around 40 bucks at the machine shop..no reason to do it your self

If you've never installed cam bearings, have the machine shop do it.They will probably be tanking the block and doing so will degrade the cam bearings.Alignment on certaintypes of cam bearings is also critical.

I am going to allow the machine shop to put the new ones in. the thing is i am going to school to become a mechanic and havent got to my engine rebuild class yet... so i figured in the long run i might end up buying a tool. thanks for everyones help.
