Chrome trim on drip rail??
Look at this truck on The Truck Shop's webpage and tell me if the chrome trim on the drip rail is stock. I've never seen it before.

Yes, that is original. They came on CST's and Cheyenne Supers, but I'm not sure if it was standard for these packages or optional.

MrGoodpliers,
Really, I didn't know that. I haven't seen them reproduced, at least not that I know of.

You guys will probably laugh at me for this, but I wanted to add the chrome drip trim, and thought the price a little too steep for my taste. Long story short, I bought some flexible plastic chromed door edge in a 16' length, and used that instead. Looks great, and not one person has noticed it is not the real thing. The stuff has adhesive on the inside of the channel, and has stayed on for 2 years now with no problem, and still looks nice and bright. If it ever starts looking faded or funky, I'll just replace it with some more, 'cause the price was right, and it is a very simple install.

I think that it looks pretty nice if you can get it installed. I have fought with that stuff to install it and had success with the side pieces, but have yet to get the front pieces to work. I am not shure that they were an optiion on these trucks either. Maybe something installed from the dealer, but I have yet to see it on any option sheets that I have seen. I have seen it installed on only one truck that was obviously original. The truck was a red longbed that was a real Tiajuana taxi / jalopy. The truck was a total wreck and the driprail trim was the nicest item on the truck. These guys were using it for a lawn service. Last summer they would come by and cut my grass. They spoke very little english and I never got a chance to ask if they wanted to sell the trim or trade it for a 12 pack. I plan on hiring them again this summer. Maybe I will have to brush up on my spanish.

The only way you can tell if it is original is by seeing it on the build sheet, or on the glove box option sheet. They may have been installed by the dealership, or ordered aftermarket since the truck was new. It is just not possible to tell just by looking at them on the truck. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

Elk,
I put them on, and it wasn't as easy as I thought it would be! They don't fit as well as I'd like. It was a while back, I think it was brothers or chevy duty. hey, did you get my check? |

There is a page in the assembly manual with the driprail molding and how to install it. But it has the text Cancelled on it, so it was probably gonna be an option, but never made it to production?

I have a set I'm willing to give away. But before I do, let me post a picture to make sure they are the subject of this thread.I don't wan't them because I don't plan on driving in the rain(I live in drought conditions here in SO CAL)
I'll be at NHRA Winternationals Feb. 19-22 2004 driving a Budweiser(1968 Harley Davidson golf cart;check my web site for a picture under toys)first guy that offers me a beer gets driprails/visors. www.jjengineering.us I will edit this reply within 24 hours to add picture. If these are really worth over $120.00,they were given to me and I don't need them.I would like to see someone from this Board enjoy them. BUT DON'T GET EXCITED,LET ME POST PICTURES TO MAKE SURE THESE ARE THE ITEMS IN QUESTION. ***By the way BARN9,like I said earlier, nice solenoids. do they taste like chicken?(breasts) *****32 more posts and I'll challenge you to less wing and more breast LOL Last edited by Javy; 02-12-2004 at 09:25 PM. |

I agree with that. I beleive there was something in this thread about drip rails or somrthing but I was blinded by the high-beams that were flashed.
