Timing
could the timing being advanced 4 degress cause the truck to bog down off the line.

First thing that popped into my head when I read "bog" was an accelerator pump thats squirting too much fuel.

I have a 396 with HEI and edelbrock 650 cfm carb, they recomended it. the shop manuel shows timing should be 4 degrees I have it set at 8 drees
