What is the diff? Holley 4160/4150
What is the difference between the Holley 4160 and 4150 carbs?
Also are the metering blocks all the same for this carb? I just bought a 4160 that has the center float bowl conversion done on it, and I don't know if the metering blocks are from the 4500(bowls are from) or the 4160? I'm wondering if rebuild kit # 37-119 will have the right gaskets for the metering blocks and float bowls? It must be you change the carb around not the gaskets they are all the same?? Any help?

The 4160 uses a metering plate on the secondary which doesn't have jets. The 4150 uses a secondary metering block, with changable jets. Also, the fuel line that bolts to the side of the carb is different because the block on the 4150 is thicker than the plate on the 4160. This makes the carburetor longer. Holley makes two kits to convert the 4160 to 4150 specs: HLY- 36-6 is for carbs with side hung float bowls HLY- 34-13S is for center hung float units Every Holley rebuild kit I've ever used came with the gaskets for either style 4150 or 4160.

Thanks for the update
I always use manual choke so that don't matter! I have duel fuel feeds so that don't matter! I don't want to make the 4160 into a 4150 I just want to buy the right rebuild kit for a 4160 with the bowl conversion. I am hopeing that all the gaskets are the same and it is the metering plates that are different. I have no idea what gaskets to get for my metering plates. Because I don't know what plates I have!

They also sell a rear metering plate that accepts screw in jets for easy tune.
4160s are vaccum secondairy what they prolly did is put bowls off a 4160 750 dual line . The 4150 is manual secondairy and has the wide metering plate front and back .. look at the carb see if it has a wide plate like on the front on the back .. I doubt it does as the main body has alot of holes there and i dont think it can be done like that. I belive the reason for the non back metering plate is for secondairy actication and whatnot. |

Plenty of the very early 4150s were vacuum secondary too. They usually were list number 3310 without any dash numbers.
