I thought someone would have this for you by now. I have a set installed and could try to get a measurement for you. E-mail me if you want a rough measurement.

I have a pair of pannels right here in front of me, there right at about 2 inches deep. 6 1/2's fit perfect.

I posted a reply and it didnt come up, here we go again. They're 2 inches deep, and made to fit 6 1/2's . Unless they have some really big magnets on the back they should fit

How well do these fit a 71 or 72 model truck
with the emergency brake pedal...
does the kickpanel and/or speaker clear the
path of the e-brake pedal, or does it interfere with the movement..???

Guys,
I made my own. The only thing I had to move was the dimmer switch. I moved it about one inch. I bought some good 6 inch speakers and built a shallow box to fit the kick panel area. I covered them with black carpet. They look nice and sound ok. I also took out the center speaker and replaced it with 2 four inch speakers mounted on a carpeted board. I used the original speaker support to hold it up. This look nice and sounds much better than the original. I hope this helps

I had to cut a piece out of mine, but it was pre marked on the back. I have the handles that open up the vents under the dash and it wouldnt clear them without cutting

I did have to move my parking brake assembly about an inch to the right. It would not clear the speaker otherwise. Yes, there is some minor trimming on the panels. I back marked the panels for the vent handles and drilled the holes so they are mounted over the top of the panels. That way they are held in place securely. I think they fit very well and look good.

Pioneer Speakers with the shortest depth I have seen are the model # TS G1645. I understand that these are older model 2 way speakers which are still available through E-bay and some other suppliers. They appear to be a very shallow depth as compared to other's Most all of the kick panel kits use this model speaker because of the shallow depth. I understand that you may still have to relocate the E-Brake assembly on some model trucks. Lister's which have installed kick panel kits can verify the E-Brake issue.

How is the bass with these panels? It doesn't seem like there is enough air in the inclosure to make it very deep. I'm trying to remember the truck pic (stroker?) of the
bergundy swb with the separates in the kick panel. It seemed like they stuck out a little more, but I think it was a 67-68, so the e-brake wasn't a factor.

You can get these from GMCPAULS, Classic Heartbeat or most other of the 67-72 truck suppliers. I bought a set but have not installed them yet.

As soon as I get my film developed I'll post some pic's so you can see what they look like. I used kenwood speakers and they had plenty of room

In my next project the 67,im gonna sin and cut the doors for some 6x9's and put some tweets in the tops of the doors, maybe mids in the kick panel area, amps under the seat, maybe a couple 10's behind the seat,i dont want a thumper just something good that kick a little, since i listen to everything i dont want a rap ground pounder.but occasionally that would be ok,maybe a custom console in the middle of the buckets to hous a big whopper of a sub????hmmmm cant wait to start playing with that but guess i better make it run and drive first!!!!!!

Where can you get kick panel speakers with the "pods" on them? I would like to find a component setup that has a tweeter mounted on it. I went to the Brothers truck show and saw these. This is what I want. Any ideas?

These people offer a kick panel with built-in pod.

YOu can also get a variety of speaker pods by themselves at:
http://www.roddoors.com/sounds.html

These seem like a better option to me because you can put them where you need them.

I'm talking about the kick panel speakers with the tweeter pod as well as the mount for the 6 1/2". There would be 2 mounting location, one for the 6 1/2" and one for the tweeter. I saw a setup @ the Brothers truck show, but it may have been a custom job, because I haven't been able to find any, anywhere. I have a pic if anyone is interested. I tried to post it here, but the file was too big. E-mail me @ motostud_5@netzero.net if you want to check it out.
