Strange Noise???
Yesterday after my short drive home from work my truck was still at high idle, which it does every now and then, so i reved it a few times and got it to idle down. Then it was making a chirping noise, like alternator or water pump bearings, but the noise was louder near the distributor. After it warmed up it went away and I havent heard it again.
Anyone have an idea of what that noise was?

I had the same thing happen to my truck when i was warming it up i revved it and i heard a chirping noise it's a 1973 GMC 1500 V8 350 and still running strong so im assuming that its fine. my guess is that it was a belt or fan slipping or wet or somthing.
i know it wasn't much help but i tried!

More than likely, its your alternator. I have an '87 GMC R1500 that does the same thing. I also have a 2001 Chevy 3/4 HD that I bought brand new that did it all the time. P122ed me off! I took it in to the dealership and they told me nothing was wrong with the alternator. But I convinced them to put a new one on anyway. The new one did it and so did the one after that. It still does it. I gave up. No problems with the alternator, just makes that dang noise!!
