Newbie with a question
Hello
I'm new to posting to this forum, but i have been reading posts for a long time. I have been able to do lots of work on my truck because of this formum. I just want to thank everyone for that. I am having a problem with the upper radiator hose getting a huge amount of pressure in it when the truck gets warmed up. The intake must be getting hot also, because the fuel starts to boilover. The temp guage says the truck is not hot. The temp sender unit is new. The radiator cap is new. Could the radiator cap be bad? Do I have air trapped in the intake? Any help would be great. Thanks |

this may or may not be relavant.... does your upper hose bubble? i had no leaks and radiator was full yet my truck would over heat.. ends up the inside of the hose has seperated and was the water was getting trapped in the upper hose where it has seperated and was causing a bubble on the outside of the hose. replaced hose... was fine.

The radiator hose does not bubble. But, the pressure gets so high that steam seaps at the connection to the radiator.

What about the thermostat?
Also, if the radiator is plugged bad enough for the coolant flow to be real slow, the water pump is pumping coolant to it, but it can't flow fast enough to handle all the new coolant coming in. This in turn will cause it to back up and swell the hose because of excess pressure. I would pull the radiator and have it rodded out. If this is the case, I bet the block is stopped up too. Might want to think about a full cooling system flush. Then get ready for freeze plugs to start leaking. Been there, done that.

Welcome to the board from SW Washinton State...
Could be one of the hoses or something in the radiator. but the gauge is reading okay, thats strange. Be sure if you find the problem to post and let us know.
