Hi, I imagine that most all power steering trucks share similar steering boxes; what is the newest best, box to look for in the bone yards to tighten up the steering?

Also, on the other hand, I'm guessing I won't find any more modern bolt in rear axles for the 2wd?

I'd just look for a reman. I can get em in Denver from Raven for about $170. In the past when I've installed a used box, I've always been disappointed so I stopped doing it. Also, can't remember which year exactly but in the late 70's, the fitting switched to metric so your old hoses won't work. On the other hand, they basically used the same box up until the body style change in '87 at least and even beyond that I believe.

I think it's the same mount pattern as a 73-87 trucks. In about 77 the close ration box was available but it was a option. I think it became standard around 81. BIG difference. No the problem is the 81 up boxes have a different fitting on them. If you don't mind changing lines it may not be an issue.
