81 3/4 ton to dually?
I can get a good deal on a clean 81 3/4 ton crew cab, but I like the look of the dually better. What would be involved to add the factory dual wheels, and to make the front match?

I did this to my Father-in-Law's truck a few years ago. We used the spindles, rotors, brake lines(to the caliper),and calipers off a Dually for the front end. The Ball Joints were the same on the 2 trucks we used so that made it a direct swap. The 3/4 ton was an 83 and the 1 ton donor was a 76
On the rear end he used spacers to get the wheels to fill the fenders but if it were me I'd get the wide dually rear also. Another thought is if you aren't using a dually bed(going flat bed) and have the 3/4 ton rear with the floating axles in it you can just slid the dual wheels right on it. Only thing you may need is to use longer wheels studs. We did this on a friend of ours truck. Good Luck! Mike |
