tranny question
Ok I got a inline 6 in my truck and the 3 on the tree system is pretty warn out. It is very hard to get it to shift without it slipping past the gears.. My father in law said something about a 3 speed floor shifter. Is there such a thing? I dont plan on keeping it on the truck but I need to get it passed emissions and I dont think the person could work it on the tree. Any help would be great..

Just go down to the wrecking yard on Broadway and about 24th Ave. Pick-a-part, it is on the south side of the road, yellow building I think, and get the parts you need to make yours work. Probably cost you $10 or so.

The other thing you could do is PM tkorenik and see if he might have the parts you need. He is out in Mesa.

Emissions do not have anything to do with shifters.

If the idiot at the emissions station can't drive a column shift, it's his problem. Tell him to go get his dad, maybe he will remember.
Don't cut a hole in the floor of your truck for that reason. Just put new bushings in your existing linkage. It will be much cheaper than a floor shift anyway.

yeah I agree it dont have anything to do with emissions, but it will slide right past the gears if you are not careful and these guys here will not mess with it. They will tell you to get it fixed and then bring it back to where they can drive it right.
I would rather just put something on the floor for now, since I am going to do a 350 with a floor shift anyway, so no matter what I will have the hole in the floor. I just want this thing to pass so I can start really working on it.. LOL.. I learned my lesson on the last truck, get it to pass BEFORE you tear it apart and redo it. I still can not get my mazda to pass..
