Thumbs up Weighed the truck...finally

Went to the dump yesterday to haul a load of yard trash. Going in, we weighed in at 4720 lb, going out weighed 4280. So, 4720 minus 440 pounds of junk, minus 215 (me) minus 165 (Dad), the truck weighs 3900 pounds. Doesn't that seem pretty heavy for a shortbed with a smallblock even with an almost full tank of gas?

Years ago I had a 71 c-20 with a stepside bed and it weighed 4250 with about 1/2 tank of fuel over the scales, so the 3900 sounds about right

My 70 SWB, 2wd 1/2T with a 3spd saginaw man trans and a 468 Big block running stock steel wheels, full trim, and NO POWER ACCESSORIES under the hood. Drum Brakes even =] with a full tank of gas tips the scale at 3850 without me or anyone else in it!

Last summer I bought a load of trap rock. The truck was 4860 with an empty saddle tank and not much in the seat tank and me at approximately 160 pounds in the driver's seat.

1/2 ton, 4x4, small block 350, th350, np205, long wheel base fleetside.

No comments on the 2400 pounds of rock in the 1/2 ton please. I wouldn't put much more than that in there again.
