wheel selection sux!!

I am trying to find some rims for the k5 and nobody makes wheels for a locking hub. Anyone have some ideas? I am trying to stay away from this style

I wanted to put 1 of these style wheels on the Jimmy when i had it. Their all American Racing wheels.

Have you looked at Centerlines new wheels? I would find the wheel I liked and mill the center cap for the lock- outs.

I was thinking the same thing myself. Everyone around here has those wheels. Thats why I bought a set from Jegs that were not made for lockouts and took the 2 caps to work and milled them out to fit over the lockout.

I'm in the same boat.

See the problem he has a lot of the current trucks have a cenetral lock so the hug is small like a 2wd.


8 Lug selection just sucks to begin with if you looking for a real HD wheel. D and E rated tires are narrow. The stock factory rim is 6.5 inches.

I am about to give up and go with either the MT style like at the top or go with a OutlawII. I can get both of them in the weight rating I need. I can also get matching rims for the Airstream the truck pulls.

This is for the jimmy right?

BE CAREFULL on theoffsett. The 88 up trucks are mor of a fwd offset. You want something 4 inches or less back space. \
The other problem is these trucks are hub centric from the factory. The newer trucks are as well BUT their hub diameter is smaller. If you can it would be best to machine it so be hubcentric again. I didn't drive my truck today so I'm worthlesss on a measurement.

It is for the Jimmy. I am unsre what offset to get, I like the tire to sit about one inch outside the fender. Weld Wheels lists the center bore between 3.6 and 4.6, is that the right measurement for the hub? What does hub centric mean?

Lug centric = lug nuts center the wheel.
Hub centeric= hub centers the wheel.

What width rim are ou going with?

You going to wheel it?
What size tire?
I'm running a 15x10 rim with a 35x12.5 tire. The tread is just under the fenders on the front but the sidewalls buldge out. The rear tracks 3 inch's less so the side walls are not as far out.

Not sure if this will let you direct link. This has a shot down the sied that you can et an idea of how the tires is to the body.

Ohh and that's a 4 inch back set wheel. JUST clears the tre's on the tie rod.

I will be running a 33*12.5 on 15*10 wheels. Not much offroad just some light trails if that, its just a DD. Thanks for the help

4 inch is what you want then for a 10 inch. It will keep the airborn crud down and it should keep you from getting hassled by the man.

If you were running more trails then go with a 8 inch. Helps keep the bead from poping at lower pressure if your crawling.

When I machined my center caps out I made the hole 3.5 inches. It was snug when I put them on and wish I would have went at least an 8th larger. Most of the newer rims do not have the hole big enough. I got lucky and the ones I chose had a hole in the rim big enough, just the cap had to be milled. I hope this can help you. I think my back spacing was aroun 3.75" too.It only has about 1/4 inch from the back of the rim and the tie rod.

Good point about the back spacing. My rims are stamped steel. A aluminum wheel is probably going to be a little thingker where it's near the tierod. 3.75 or 3.5 might be a better choice and guearantee no fitment issue.

Is there any way to get away with a 5" backspace? Probably not I just found some centerlines for a cheap price.

That's a current back to 88 truck offset. Hmmmmm It might fit but it will be close. It will tuck them up under the truck.

I second that notion. Ive been trying to find something different than everybody else had on their 73-87, but all the wheels that are different, you cant get a centercap with a hole in it.

Well I made a decision on what to get for the 3/4 burb last night.

We tow with it and it has a set off good Michelin's E rated hwy tires on it with a easy 20k left on them. they are a 235 85 16. Big time limited us in wheel selection. Have to go with a 16x7 max. Not much in that range with a 3k or better weight rating. It was down too the outlaw II (055) or the 589 knock off's in the first post. going with the 589's.

Also decided on the rims we are going with on the camper. they sort of look like OutlawII without the rivets. Nobody makes a OutlawII style with over a 1900lb rating and that would be at max weigh if we did that. www.Rjays.com has a set of aluminum mods with a 2540 weight rating for $92 each shipped. http://www.rjays.com/Wheels/hi-spec-wheels-01.htm

post some pics once you get them. I think I have given up, I am going to have to go with the same damn wheels everyone else has. I cant find the width and the offset in any wheel under $350. I can get a full set of 4 eagle wheels shown above shipped to my house for under $375.
