okay, now that my guages are working again, anytime i press on the brake pedal, its like its sucking the power out of it. the parking brake light goes really dim and my voltmeter gets really low.

when i let off the brake, it goes back to normal

Sounds like a short on your brake switch... Pull the access panel off thats under the steering column and pull wires until you figure it out.

or just disconnect or replace your brake switch, maybe it has a poor ground?

its a given that your truck is not running. you may want to just hold off on replacing anything until your engine is in and running. may just be an issue of a low battery. when you've got it running, the alternator may very well solve the problem by supplying more voltage.

i've got it hooked up to a charger rightnow, suppling a full 12volts.

it is the brake switch though, everytime i let off of the switch, the power is drained, but it comes back when i push the switch back in

Check the brake lamps as well. A short in the sockets could cause a drain also. I agree with 1fastC10, hold off on it till you get the truck running. I don't know what size charger you are using but a small 10 amp charger will drop substantial voltage with a current draw such as the brake lights. Try turning on the headlights and see if the same thing happens.

headlights work fine. it only happens with the brake switch

Also check the cab grounds (for dash electrics), make sure the mounting points are nice and clean.

okay, it does drain it with the headlights... and anything else electrical. it drains the power when the brake lights, headlights, dashlights, blower motor, etc. comes on
