Rockwell to NP205 ?
hello everyone, it appears that my Rockwell T-221 just took a crap. Read here for the full story.
Anyway, I was thinking it would probably be cheaper and easier to just swap in an NP205. Right now I have an SM465 married to a Rockwell T-221. I did a search for this info, and discovered that I can use my existing crossmember, and the NP205 will bolt right up (if I get the NP205 coupler sleeve, of course), but I couldn't find specifics on any driveshaft mods. I'd like to ask if anyone has done this swap and has changed their driveshafts in any way. My truck is stock ride height now but I plan on a lift sometime in the future. Oh, and I also know that unless I get a '70 NP205, I will have to cut a hole in my high hump for the shifter. Thanks in advance

Pont has done this swap. I am not sure but it seems like he said that he did have to change the driveshaft length. I would try e-mailing him and asking.

I'm pretty sure the rear driveshaft is the same but the front is different as I recall from memory.

You have to get the 205 adapter that goes between the tranny and the t-case. I don't know about driveshafts, but I don't think that you need a new front. I'm not sure about the rear, the output on the rockwell is at the bottom, the output on the 205 is at the top.
After saying that, I've never done the swap, but someone did it on my '68 before I bought it.
