Ignition Switch Removal????????

I have to change the ignition swith, or more correctly, the keyed portion of the switch as I do not have the key to fit it. I purchased a new ignition lock cylinder with key from LMC, however it occured to me that the only way I've ever heard of removing the lock cylinder required the key to fit the old one. Does anyone out there know of a way to remove the whole ignition switch to get the lock cylinder out?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

On some of the older ignitions, keys from other rigs will allow you to turn the ignition cyl to allow you the way to remove just the cylinder......

Chev used whats called a sidebar wafer lock and hard to pick.....

Thanks Blue Beard. My dad's got a bunch of these GM trucks and old musclecars, I may have to just try that.
