South Carolina Questions...
Am thinking of relocating to South Carolina in the near future. Wanted to know, what can I expect to face as far as vehicle inspections, emissions checks, etc. as well as how strict your LEO's are on tires (extending past fenders), ride heights, etc. Also, emissions check status for trucks over 30 years old. Thanks for any help in this matter. Just want to know what to expect when I get there. Thanks again, Trukman1

I know people from the Charlotte area that have moved to SC just to get away from inspections. SC is a great place to live for car nuts!

I live in SC and there are no inspections at all. No emission checks or anything. You pretty much can do what you want until you get pulled over and then you can get ticketed for bald tires, excessive noise, etc. I drove my pickup to the exhaust shop with straight headers in a very small town which is about 10 miles from my house a didn't get stopped. Of course i never seen a cop either. I've heard rumors they were coming out with a very strict inspection and emissions check 4 or 5 years ago but it hasn't happened yet. I do know if you get pulled over you better have your registration and proof of insurance or you will be automatically ticketed. And wearing seat belts is the law too.

Thanks for the info...(and the welcome to come on down!) Was stationed at FT. Bragg years ago and always wanted to retire to the South. Will keep everyone posted as to my progress. Will be looking into northeast corner area. Wish me luck (Wife isn't crazy about move but she'll get over it!) Anyhow, thanks for the input. Another reason this board is great! Trukman1
