problem replacing e-brake cable
My emergency brake cable is broken and frayed at the end and needs replacement. It is the piece that goes from the pedal to halfway down the frame. My problem is that I can't figure out how to get it out to replace it.
Where it attaches to the pedal, it has a ball on the end of it and it looks like it can't fit through the firewall. Do I have to take the whole pedal assembly apart and out to replace this cable? Also can I just buy new cables from any dealer. Thanks guys

I bought a new cable from American Classic Truck Parts--it works great and it was only $35. Taking the cable out is easy- first, just unbolt the bracket that is attached to the pedal assembly next to the firewall. Then take out the cotter pine and slide the pins out of the U shaped piece of metal. Next, pry the U shaped apart carefully and take out the ball/cable assembly. Hope this helps.

That did the trick! I had it all except for the part that was held on near the firewall by a bolt. Shoulda realized that comes off. Thanks for the help.

InLine Tube Co. has brake cables as reasonable price.
