any one know how those Air Fuel gauges work
I am loking at buying one of those Air Fuel gauges dose any one no how they work ? or do thay work for tuning your carb????

It uses an oxygen sensor in the exhaust system, to measure air/fuel ratio, I believe. It should be a valuable tool to optimize a carburator for peak efficiency.

do you now if I just bought a oxigen sencer and put it in my exast if it woud work? or am i goting to have to do some wiring if so how woud I do it?

When you buy the guage, it should come with all needed parts, and instructions.

No, once you buy the air/fuel gauge, youi'll have to buy Autometer part #2244 which comesd with the O2 sensor, wiring harness, a thing to weld to your exhaust collector, and instrtuctions. I don't know about buying just a O2 sensor. I have the ultra Lite air/fuel gauge, and havent put it in yet b/c I don't want to take the easy way out.

Most of those A/F ratio gauges aren't very useful for tuning. What you need is a wide band AFR. Only trouble is they are more expensive mostly because the wideband O2 sensors are expensive. If you do use a WB tune you truck then pull the sensor they are too expensive to leave in all the time.
If its just for looks go ahead and get one of the less expensive ones with the switching type O2 sensor.

tanker350 is correct about installation. I had one on a 88 Monte Carlo SS with a 350 and about all it was good for was to tell you if you were lean or rich at WOT. not much good for anything else
