Remove Lighter
How do I remove the lighter from the ash tray?
And I don't mean the part you just pull out, I mean, the entire thing? |

there are four phillips head or 1/4 inch drive small screws that hold the ashtray assembly in the dashboard. remove them reach back there and unplug the wire to it and put electrical tape over the rubber end ( cause it can short out if it hits a ground) and then you unscrew the back of the lighter housing from the front it may require holding the inside with a needle nose and using a regular pliers on the outer case but it simply unscrews. You can get a delete plate to fit in the hole where the lighter sat

I'm not positive, but if it's like most lighters there is the socket that goes into the hole from the front and a cover that screws over the socket from the back. After you remove the ashtray and unplug the wire you hold the inside of the socket to keep it from turning and unscrew the backcover. Hope this works.

Oh...it screws...ok, got it, thanks
I had tried that and hadn't gotten it to turn, and thought maybe there was a trick, but if it simply turns, brute force should do the job :p |
