Whats up with 3.07's???

i broke my gears, and need a set of 3.07 gears...sooo, i call up summit, they tell me there is no 3.07, and 3.08's will work even if my front gears are 3.07. i said hell no. jegs says the same thing.

aparrantly richmond doesnt offer a 3.07 gear for a 71 K-10 1/2 ton ???

WHERE do i get some, i would prefer a good gear becaus its the tow vehicle for my drag car. and i'll be towing it to the track all summer

thanks, zach

it is ok to run 3.07 in one axle and 3.08 in the other. the small difference won't matter, even when in 4wd on pavement. some trucks came from the factory this way, with the front and rear ratio not matching exactly.

Talking

3.07 front and 3.08 rear will work just fine. A lot of factory stuff is off by one click like that. Later Wilis

They will work. The difference in ratio is soooo small, you will never notice it.

I changed the front and rear ring/pinions (Dana 44 and GM 12 bolt) from 3.73 to "3.07s" on my 68 K10 using parts from Randy's Ring and Pinion for a competitive price. Think these were Yukon brand parts.

The number mismatch won't be appreciable since tread wear and tire inflation differences account for a much larger percentage of "mismatch."

Usually people aren't driving on dry pavement anyhow.
