New brake booster/master cyl./prop. valve?
I'm loosing brake fluid out of the front reservior of my master cyl. It's not leaking at the wheels, but there's paint lifting off the base of my brake booster, so I assume it's running out of the back of the master cyl. running down the brake booster (lifting the paint off) and getting burned up somehow before it dissapears under the truck (obviously only when I'm driving). I don't think there's anything I can do to fix this with the existing booster. My master cyl. is extremely rusted so I question how clean it is, and the prop valve doesn't look like it's in good shape.
Therefore I figured I might as well just take care of the entire problem all at once. I'd like a nice stock replacement since it's a work truck. Anyone have any suggestions where I could get a good new master cyl., brake booster, and prop. valve?

...or buy the rebuild kit for your master cylinder. A cheap cylinder hone will clean up the cylinder and new seals should stop the leaks. Rust on the outside can be taken care of with a bead blast or wire brush, then apply some POR15.
Folks on e-bay make a living doing this. You already have the parts, unless they're cracked, they'll work. Good luck, Scott

rebuilding a master cylinder is pointless and way too much work when you can buy a rebuilt master cylinder for 15 bucks already done and nice and clean. hell the rust removal alone is worth 15 bucks

Go to NAPA, I just picked ordered one for my truck. I just got the booster and master cylinder for about 130.00.

Hmm...that's pretty good. I'll look into it.
What about the prop. valve?

I did not get the valve, but I am sure they can get that too.

I have been having the same problem on my Blazer for a few years. It has been driving me crazy. I thought I was smart and bought a premium quality rebuilt MS with lifetime warranty. Well, the auto parts replaces it at no cost, every year or so, but it keeps taking the paint off the booster. It always starts leaking out the rear seal on the MS, so I now have/sell brand new, lifetime warrantied MS. I hope they will solve the problem. I bought lots of them so I can sell them for $65 each.
I also have new booster/bracket/MS/prop valve/sets, but they are a little spendy with all of those new parts. |

I don't think anyone makes the prop valve, they hardly ever go bad, no point in replacing it really.
