sup fella's! i've been lookin on the forum for about a week now, i've seen some really sweet stuff. i just got me a 1972 c20 about a month ago which i think is in pretty good shape, and i'm just now pulling out the old engine and putting in a rebuilt 350. gonna try to post a pic of my truck, hope it works!

did you do a 1/2 ton suspension swap? C/20 usually means 3/4 ton...but looks sweet anyway! love the paint stripe!

really? i'm not sure, i just bought the thing cuz i looked good and i wanted something to hook up! is that a bad thing tho? and how hard would it be to make a longbed to shortbed conversion? like would i have to move the wheels and axel any, or would i just cut on the frame and drop a SB on it?

you can look at the truck's VIN to see if it was originally a 3/4 ton or not. the VIN can be found in 3 locations: typed onto the option sticker in the glove box, stamped onto a metal tag that is riveted in the drivers door jamb, and stamped into the frame somewhere (not sure where, on that one).

if your truck was originally a V8 3/4 ton truck, then your VIN will start like this: CE2...

if it was originally a half ton V8, it would start with: CE1...
if it was originally an inline six, replace the "E" with an "S".

of course, it's also possible that the truck's original body was too rusty to repair, so a p/o put a cab and front clip from another truck on there. and it's also possible that it has the original sheetmetal and a non-original frame, so it is impossible in a way to tell what kind of kooky things the p/o may have done.

Cutting down a long bed is a big job, but it's been done (some better than others). Use the search function and you may find some of the old posts. Your other option is to find a shorty frame and box and just transfer your cab, engine, transmission, wheels........

Actually, what said "1/2 ton" to me was the 5 lug nuts.
3/4 ton 2wd trucks had trailing arms too, unless optioned with leafs (except for GMC...i think they had leafs unless optioned with coils).

i checked the vin today, and it read CCE14...something so i'm not sure what that is, but its in the glove box and on the inside of the door pop rivited there. oh and i just finished up pulling out the engine yesterday, cleaning the engine bay out today and swapping what lil parts i'm using from the old to the new! ima get some pics today or tomorow and post'em!
