Oil Pressure Gauge
I just got a new '70 lwb w/ a 305 out of a mid-80's Camaro. Whenever I come to a quick stop after I've been driving a while, my oil pressure gauge drops down way low.
I just replaced the oil pump & screen. The previous owner replaced the timing gear, but only after all the teeth were stuck in the oil pump screen. I no longer hear it knocking when I come to a stop light from low oil pressure. So my question, Does the oil pressure gauge normally drop low (kinda like a gas gauge sometimes will b/c of the gas sloshing around), or do I still have a problem on my hands??? Thanks Guys.

When you installed the new pick-up tube did you make sure it sat as low in the pan as possible? On a stock motor you will see a drop in oil pressure when you come to a sudden stop when the oil moves forward in the oil pan away from the pick-up tube of the oil pump. Also I am sure you checked but make sure your oil level is full. LOL Good Luck 70short/step
