It'll be pimp on a sunny day. My M37 (mil truck) has no top, I've been throwing fits the last two summers 'cause it's not together yet.

are you going to finish the truck with no top or make it an option to reinstall, like the corrvet hard top convertible?

I would like to build a Carson top later on, but it will stay topless for a while. The metal top is just to heavy to work with. Its only going to be used in local cruises and taking a spin to the beach any way.

You wil need to cut the doors first. Cut it at thetop of the A pillar's for the vent window. Next measure up the back of the window frame 2" then make the cut. Take out the amount you want to chop from the roof I like 2 - 2 1/2" not too dramtic. Now you will weld back the top piece of the win frame to the piece that you measure up for the cut in the back use spot weld. Now you will need a second pair of hands. Use two straight edges. Put one on the door flat across the top then use the other to form the angle of the A pillar window frame to the top of the window frame that you welded back. This will give you a refrence gage to make a pie cut a the bottom of the A pillar win frame. Use a torch to heat it up and then bend it back with help to make sure it is straight to line it up then spot weld it. Do this to both doors. Now with the windsheld in make the same pie cuts in the A pillar window frame have four buds on hand for this as they will have to heat both sides at the same time and then the other two will haveto pull down on the a frame pillar's to meet up with the new door frame angles. Now weld it up after you check it to be equal and straight. You sould be done in a day or 2. Hope this helps if need be I hope to be going to Eds soon and I could show you in more detail. Let me know.

Nice post sniper2321, I'm getting jealous. I wanted mine to be a daily driver but... Next project will have to be a clean, bagged, chopped, convertible top.

Thanks sniper, I was uncertain about the pie cut. Would you say the pie cut has to be 1/2 or 3/4 way into the pillar? Its going topless so it dont have vent window pillar to worry about.

I like to use the door as a refrence to guide me as to how deep the pie cut needs to be. Then i transfer that to the window A pillar which leaves me with the least amount of welding and body work. I all so like to leave the vent windows with the pillars for support of the windsheld frame as it does not have the built in support as the Jimmy/ Blazers do.

Yep, there is very little support left as far as roll over protection. I would like to ad a roll bar to the back, but the would take away from the look I want. I going to get something to fit and slide down the inside of the pillers for extra support and tie it in some how. I still may put in a short roll bar with two small hoops just behind the driver and passenger, kind of what they use in the cobra replicas.

I agree with cojnit drop it all the way down and you will never have to worry about rolling over. Would like to see pics of that when you are done. I've often thought of chopping the windshield down on my 2wd Blazer, but I don't know. Might want to put the top back on one day.
