Found this for sale.
I came accross this the other day. It's for sale and I peeked in the window. Interior is pretty thrashed. Not even sure if it runs. Anyone know what year it is?? Was thinking they only made these in 2wd?? Looks like another project, would be pretty cool to restore.

58 was the first year 4x4 was offered from the factory. Before that, ( and after ) dealers or other shops installed Napco 4x4 conversions.

Actually the first year for in HOUSE (GM)Napco conversions was 1957
Before that they were done by outside vendors. The way to tell is the rivets on the tranfercase crossmember, when done outside the factory they had bolts, the conversion was originally sold so that it could be taken off and installed on another truck and the original truck restored to pre-napco condition. Here is a pic of a 57 Napco I use to own http://community.webshots.com/script...ity=SQHNytBmak

So it's a 58 or 59. I don't know much about these older pre-67 panels but would like to learn more. Any pics of em??
Hutch, I couldn't get your link to work. It said I wasn't the owner of the album. ...any other links or photos? Sorry for posting on the 67-72 Board, but I was really wanting to find out more about these vehicles. |
