Painless wiring harness for 73-87 truck
Has someone done the wiring of their truck with Painless wiring harness #10205.
I'm thinking of ordering that kit, is it easy to install and what are the pro's/con's of this operation? The wiring on my project truck is pretty fu**ed up, every owner has done some cutting and modding the wires so they dont look up to the task anymore. If this painless kit is really good and easy to install it would secure things up quite a lot, I dont want to end up fixing the wiring on the road.... Thanks. |

There are at least two of us on the board who have installed or are installing that Painless kit, and I believe Chris (capt kaos) still has his kit in the box. I am in the middle of installing mine and so is 75stepside. I can honestly say I love the kit, and it is pretty easy to install. I have no wiring experience, so I struggle at times, but it is coming together nicely and I am very pleased. IMO, if you want it done right, this is the way to go.

The install is very easy. Though I did mine over several weekends, you could easily install the harness in one day.
Keep in mind that the kit doesn’t include the wiring for the air-conditioning and any power door accessories (power locks, windows.)

I had a Painless kit for a while but returned it. I went through it and everything looked awesome! Very simple to understand and install. I'll be buying one again.....

good call - like others have said, they are great. i'm right in the middle of mine... got the rear section all soidered and wired up, working on the engine compartment...
be sure to keep your original wiring as you may need some random pigtails, plugs, etc... enjoy! where'd you pick one up at? how much? |
