ralley wheels
ok, i have a set of rallies on the 79 G20 van, and they all have tires on them so i cannot correctly measure the width, but from the outside, i get a measurement of 2 1/2" on the front side and 5 1/2" on the backside which basically makes 8"
now does anyone know for sure that they made any 5 bolt rallies narrower than 8" ? im still not 100% sure that they are 8", but the trim rings are only 1 1/2" wide, so hm... they have a ton of backspace, im guessing anywhere from 4 1/2" to 5 1/4" ------------------ Randy- Lincoln, IL r68c30@hotmail.com 71 C-10, trying to assemble....sigh.. parting out 5.0LTPI '81 cutlass supreme brougham *Paint is overrated © RSS Enterprises 2000 |

Hey Fast...
If you clean off the backside of the rim, they will have the dimensions stamped in there somewhere...All of the GM rims I have ran across have it, may take some cleaning to find it though! I have 15x6.5 as well as a set of 15x8... ran across alot of 15x7's when I was searching for 15x8. ------------------ 71 Chevy C-10 SWB Fleetside WAS:307w/3-on-the-tree NOW:350TBI/700R4/3.73 See it at www.prismnet.com/~grzanich

All the van wheels I have seen are 6 1/2 but anythings possible. You can usally tell by looking at the trim rings, the 6 1/2 wheels the trim ring almost touches the vertcal part of the wheel, the 8" has about a 1" gap.

these are 1 1/2" wide rings, the 8" i know have 2 and soemthing wide rings, so hmmm, i guess Ill pul a wheel off and clena off back and see if I can find numbers stamped in it somewhere, even if its a 7" wide, a 9" wide tire would look fine on it, so hmmm..

I have quite a few 15x7 5 lug rally's. I like to runthem on the front of my 67 trucks, kinda that big/little's thing I guess.... mine came from a nieghbors '77 chevy van, he bought chrome wagon spokes so he gave me the "stock steel wheels".

Most vans of those yrs. came with 7" or 7 1/2" wheels, I got a set back when I was putting my 71 together from my dad, and traded them in on a set of 8", they didn't fill the wheel well up like I wanted them to. Yes most of them are stamp from GM.

Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs. |

im just having hard time understanding why GM would go to all the trouble of making so many different minutely different widths of the same wheel. normally manufacturers tried harder to save production and tool and die costs, normally..
