Bedwood

If the following is a challenge, may be against forum rules, please inform me and I will delete the post.

Just checking interest in bedwood. As i am a cabinetmaker with a couple tools in my shop, another board member made the suggestion of manufacturing the wood. Can be made out of anything, stained and clear coated if required. For those interested let me know.

Thanks Darren

Calgary is not that far from Spokane. It all depends on the type of wood. Pine being the least expensive and walnut being higher priced then oak, maple or alder. I quess you have to know what you would like then I could give you a price. Nice thing is if you want something different then oak, maybe even quarter sawn oak,I can do it. Anything can be done.

Red Oak

I live in Saskatoon and would be very interested in making a deal with you to do bed wood for me. Have you done any before? I see guys like Bruce Horkey in Minnesota use a wood called red oak, are you familiar with that? You could probably build yourself a great business doing wood bedsin Canada if your prices are reasonable cause it costs so much to get wood beds from the USA. Any idea how much you would be charging for a straight oak bed for an 8 foot fleetside?

A couple of tools in my shop!! Ha! Darren is being modest. He does GREAT work. And I'm not just saying that because he's my brother-in-law, his work is fantastic! But don't give him too much business or he won't get to work on the Jimmy. lol

Wow, I think I may have found something to pay for the 6 speed to go behind the Ramjet.

Curly Maple???? Birdseye Maple maybe, I could probably soak it to bend it a little .

Red oak is pretty much the standard oak on any peice of furniture you buy, White oak, quarter sawn, are other options.

As for suggestions on types of wood, its just about the same as paint for your truck, options are pretty much endless and all of them possible.

Now your talking that would be very cool, I would rather use maple with the walnut inlays. Like I said, anything is possible. Would take some work, but if someone really, really wanted it, I would do it. Wouldn't it be cool to have Zumo design something , and have it in your bedwood?

After I read my post I had a brain wave, how about using 2 woods and laminating them. I think as long as th strips are not small say 2-3 inches each, depending on which board it is, it would have a good look.

Now my brain is going 110mph, I wont be able to sleep tonight.

Flames. I am painting my truck 2003 BMW blue and will be laying on cream pinstripe flames. So something to go with that.

Individual flames in each board, or one set of flames over the whole bed. I remember seeing a website that was on the photoshop forum that had a bunch of designs for flames, ill see if I can find it and link it here.

obviously this is not a daily driver, sounds like a nice truck
