68 4x4 shortstep on E-Bay
There is a 68 shortstep 4x4 on E-Bay that is real close to where I live. If anyone is interested, I will be glad to go by and look it over.

dtlilly,
All of the parts are there for a "full restore", whatever that means. I love some of the ads on older trucks and cars. One of my favorites is that the vehicle is "ready to restore". Like you have this preparation that they have done to get the car ready for restoration. The truck does have the tranny and transfer case. I plan on looking at it tonight to see what it is like. So far no one is bidding on it. I am curious about the "1500" designation. Did Chevy make a "1500" truck in 68? Jim |

I'm not sure what you're buying yearwise. A 68 didn't have a autotrans, can't tell from the pictures if it has a 67-72 frame or not. I bought mine on ebay running&driving for $927bucks, but it's a long bed.

The thing looks kinda hacked to me. From just the auction, I'd say pass.

Hey Jim,
If you go check it out...I might be interested in the condition of the truck if you pass on it. I asked a couple questions on the auction but no response as of yet. Let me know what you see. Thanks, Gord |

72gord,
I was looking at the truck out of curiosity. I have no intention of buying it. I looked at the truck last night and the owner does not know why he listed 1500 in the ad. It is a 68 but it has a variety of parts in it. Some late model buckets with the early console. It has an automatic transmission,TH 350 and the two drive axles are in it. It has been apart for a long time setting outside. Because of the snow around it I could not see the transfer case but it is probably an NP 205. There is something strange about the frame as the bed is jacked up with 2" blocks yet the middle of the bed just clears the kickup on the frame. The frame is very rusty, there is a 3" hole in the frame rail by the front left rear spring hanger. The sheet metal is pretty badly rusted, the interior is trashed, the tires are large but not good. Outside of the axles and transmission, it does not appear that there too many usable parts. The pictures make it look better than it is. Jim |

Thanks Jim, from the pictures I thought the cab was probably pretty rusty, sounds like a lot of $$$ for a couple axles and transfer case. Thanks for the info anyway, Gord
