Any ideas

On why the choke plate on my qjet is fully open on start up. It starts on the first crank and once it warms up fully idels fine. Just don't know why the choke is opposite of the way it should be when cold? Or do I leave well enough alone and not mess with it?

The choke is held open when the throttle is closed. You have to pump the throttle to "Set" the choke.
Some engines are tuned to be cold natured and some arnt. I don't know why. My truck starts great cold. Probably becuase the inital timeing is a little too far advanced to compensate for the curve.
