Question t400 trans issues

OK, first off, let me say that Andys dope-smokin old man musta owned my truck. My 70 has the engine in the 6 cylinder position. so my tranny is sittin back a bit more. With it as tight as it is at the firewall(HEI), I think he removed the tranny dipstick. Now I admit I dont know jack about trannys, but where should the dipstick tube be tapped into the trans so I can crawl under and look, and does anyone else have a clearance prob for the dipstick. What did you guys do. Sorry to ramble.

I assume you have a smallblock, or you wouldn't be complaining about the L6 position. lol

Well, the dipstick tube should come out the passenger side of the TH400 case, and be right at the back passenger side of the engine by the firewall. There should be enough space to run it up there.

I don't know how far your engine sits from the firewall, but if its causing problems with your distributor I'd reconfigure your engine compartment, and go get a new driveshaft to set it up the way it's supposed to be. That would bug the hell out of me...
