Sounds like you need to just take the ignition switch out and not replace it for awhile. LOL

Well, if your still a free man and reading this, LOL, you need to remove the cylinder first. Put in key and turn to the ACC position. Insert a small allen wrench in the small hole on the front of the cylinder and press in hard while turning counterclockwise past the ACC postion. The cylinder should pop out. Then you can replace the bezel.

I had to use a special tool to get mine out, it stuck from sitting in the dash for 30+ years, turned the key to accessory, used the paper clip the old man was using for a key chain, bent it, inserted it in the hole in the cover, unscrewed the ring.

I had no luck with paperclips either. Someone on this site suggested using the small allen wrench and it worked like a charm.
This question comes up so often, maybe we need an FAQ here for our trucks. ------------------ 63 Impala*66 Chevelle SS*69 Chevelle*69 C10 Stepside*71 Cheyenne 20*72 Chevelle Parts for sale: http://www.angelfire.com/trek/mr409/items4sale.html
