can you put 3/4 ton 4x4 diffs and leafs on a 4x4 blazer?

just like the title says...are leafs on a 4x4 blazer and a 3/4 ton 4x4 truck the same in length? my dad has a 72 chevy truck that he wants to strip down and use the diffs and springs on a 72 blazer he might be purchasing..will this all work?

i don't see any issuee with tihs swap.....i recently did this with 87 c10 4x4 took 3/4 ton diffs and leafs out of a 77 put diffs and rear springs in the half ton bollted right up no issues should work for you as well.......best way to tell is to measure the springs.....diffs will bolt right up most of the time just need bigger u-bolts cuase the housing has a larger diameter

yep 69-72 are the same, 1/2 ton to 3/4 ton. on the 73s and up, some higher weight trucks had longer rear springs(56 v. 52) 69-72 have 52" rear springs. the fronts are different between the two generations though.

1986 K30, 350/400/205 dana 60 and 14 bolt. I kept the drivetrain. Body/bad and chassis are gone.
1981 K30, 350/465/205 dana 60 and dually 14 bolt. Has a G80, and a flat bed. Going to replace the flat bed.

1985 K20, 350/400/208 10 bolt and SF 14 bolt. I wonder where I can find some 1 tons. Hmmmmm

The Axles will bolt up fine however the springs are an unknown. When you buy a lift kit for a 69-72 chevy, they will ask the length of you rear springs as ther are two lengths posible. If you don't believe me, call Skyjacker. I think it might be 1/2 ton vs 3/4 ton that makes the difference.

with a 72, you wont be able to just bolt in the rear axle, you'll have to move the spring perches on the axles. or you could just find a 1 ton rear axle.

what is the spring perch spacing on a 72 Blazer? i'm almost 100% positive that you cannot just bolt in a 3/4 ton axle, however you can bolt one in with a 73...

They are like 42 3/4" inches or something of the sort, blazers half tons and 3/4 ton 4x4 all had the same basic frame just adjusted for length, on a 72 the rear ends will swap without any trouble, i think, not sure but i think the u joint will be the same as well. as for swaping between generations, the spings are narrower on a 73+ for all trucks except the 1 ton, it is a strait swap for a 73+ one ton rear into a 67-72 truck or blazer 4x4. front axles have maintained the same pad width from 67 through the end of the strait axle trucks.

thanks for the confirmation on the Blazer being the same width as a 73+ 1 ton truck. you got your widths mixed up though the 1/2 and 3/4 tons are wider than the 1 tons by about 2"

No problem, i wasn't sure of the numbers, but now that you say that i remember. went through all of the same measuring and sh!t when i put the 60/14bolt in my 72 from a '80 tonner.
