4 LINK SUSPENSION
Anyone know where to get info on a 4 link or where to purchase one for my sb67

i wouldnt waste the trouble and $$ if you have trailing arm suspension, if not then swap to it, its not hard to do, is all bolt on if you have a coils rear parts chassis

The coil set up we have on these is about as perfect as you can get.

a true 4 link is still better...... id set the engine on 6 stands for better wheight transfer

not trying to start an argument...but if trailing arm suspension, with coil springs, is the best, why do most all the Pro Stock & Pro Mod drag cars/trucks run a 4 link?

i saw in a magazine a suburban with leafs converted to 4-link air ride, i believe it was from air ride technologies

Fast, I have a GMC W/ leaf rear. Would like the coil rear. Are you saying the holes and evrything are already there from the factory? Just bolt in the parts? Do the frames come from the factory with holes drilled for both setups? Darren

if you want coil over shocks, then mount them on the back of your trailing arms. its not hard. and it is cheaper than a 4 link.

If you are racing ,a 4 link is the way to go,as they are more adjustable. Most guys "back half" the truck to set up that way. Another option is a ladder bar,or ladder link,with coil over. These setups dont work too well on the street as far as handling. I have leafs on the longhorn with slapper bars,& have set the eng in on 250/6 stands to move all the weight back that I can. I dont have any wheel hop, but still need a set of sticky tires to get the truck to hookup. I have stretched the rear tubs to fit more rubber,& done many mods on the truck......but have vowed not to cut the frame! If I cant get the thing to hook up, I plan a ladder setup on a custom crossmember(longhorn frame wont except a trail arm setup). Good luck.....69 longhorn.

Trailing arms and coils allow you to keep the payload size, They were designed to work best with these trucks and if it's good enough for NASCAR, it's good enough for a street truck. Do you really think that you can get the same performance out of a small coil over coil spring as you can out of a stock 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton spring. Just box in the trailing arm if you want less flex.

A true 4-link is easier to adj the pinion angle for different tracks/conditions. If it's mostly a street driven truck the stock style trailing arms are the best way to go vs. a ladder bar set-up as they are basically ladder bars that don't bind like aftermarket units. If you have leafs, your frame will still have the holes in the crossmember for the t-arms so you just need the correct t-arm crossmembers, brackets, braces, shock hardware & stuff & don't use anything less than GRADE 8 hardware when installing.

oh, 4links and ladder bars are better than stock suspension anyday, check out the new chevy's lately. subs use 4 links now.... www.competitionengineering.com www.airride.com air ride has the triangulated 4 link, great weight savings over stock system, plus eliminates panhard bar. can utilize air bags or coil overs. good luck! Here is my 4 bar set up....probably should have stayed with trailing arm set up myself, but I didn't know they were as good as these.....I think if I do another one, it will keep the trailing arms.....

stick with what you got, the 4 link is better anyday. good enough for the new suburbans.......
plus you can modify pinion angle and save on sprung weight too. |

if you plan on back halfing it..then I would go with the 4 link..if not..new bushings and the trailing arm is fine.

I'm not saying which is better. I'm not a racer like you guys abviously are. I do find the NASCAR reference hilarious though. I doubt that NASCAR uses the exact geometry or materials as our trucks. It's like saying the all V8's are the same.
That said, I was wondering if a stock trailing arm set up will bolt up to a leaf truck. What about a 4x4 lrear eaf?

Nascar might not have used the SAME geometry or materials but the same trailing arm design was used for a long time, clear up into the 90's

Not to be a jerk, but internal combustion engines have been used since the early 1900's. Suspension is about geometry. Design is important too but that's just the beginning. Anyway, I'm no expert but I just don't buy the argument. It's still better than my leaf, so I may go with trailing arms if I can't afford the 4 link.

to let you all know the trailing arm in nascar were oem till the new monte cameout i know because i have a use set in my truck from hendricks the cost about 200 for the set know they are longer and are coustom biuld for 3\16 c chanel her are some pic of the new one the they made for me.
