WTB: 72 Chevy shortbed fleetside near Dallas, TX

I am looking for an Original 72 everyday driver and I have a budget of 4K. I am not a mechanic so I would like to get something that runs good. I would like something with A/C (hot Texas summers). Please let me know if know of any 72s that will be at the Wise Co. Swap Meet in Decatur, Texas this weekend.

I'll have one for sale in a couple of weeks, and will try to bring it to Pate swap meet at the end of the month. It's a '71 short wide, white, 350/350, PS, PB, tilt, polished wheels, 99% rust free, tons of new parts, linex, etc, etc. Asking $6000. PM me if you are interested.

The one in Allen is located on the northbound side of 75 at Allen Dr. Need to take the McDermott exit and stay on the service road for easy access.
It belongs to a guy who owns a sign shop, it has stickers/decals all over it advertising his buiz. Nice looking truck tho, wasnt there yesterday to get the number, I'll look again today.

olddoc1024,
Thanks for the info. This is the kind of information I was hoping to get out of this thread. I am going to keep looking for a '71 or '72 short & wide. Hopefully I will find something at the Pate swap meet.

Anyone have any tips on how what to look for when buying a truck at a swap meet? Should I ask to test drive it, should I expect a title, should I try and haggle about the price?

Any info would be helpful.

Well, I am still looking for that '71 or '72 short bed. I went out to Pate this weekend and could not find anything I could see spending my 4K on. There seems to be a lot more '67 - '70 trucks for sell in this price range though. Anyone have any ideas?

I guess you saw my old truck in the car corrall? I sold it within 15 minutes wednesday evening, and the new owner marked it up $3000 and drove it straight to the car corral. I guess I sold it too cheap, lol. They do seem to be higher around DFW though, compared to this area. Or maybe they were just higher at Pate.

I may have seen it. I did notice a few shortbeds in the car corrall that seemed to be over priced. Don't get me wrong, some of them I would have taken home in a heart-beat if I had 11K to spend. I was there Saturday, I wonder if any prices got slashed on Sunday.
