Your teasing us right. That looks like a great project and you can easily get the 200 back when you sell the I-6 and drop that 350 in. looks like surface rust and new paint and you'l have a nice ride.
Happy trucking.

wanna double your money?
Well, I can't give you 400, but it is well worth 500 from what I see...and I'm asuming it doesn't run.
I don't know inline engines, but that looks like a 292 to me, the motor mount towers apear to be staggared.

You have a few things to do as soon as you get it home.....
first and formost, remove the F-150 hub caps. I wouldn't even tow it home with those on there.
Clean it out, wash off all the mold and see whats underneath, remove the stupid looking headache rack...and then maybe get it running.
That's what I'd do anyways.

Why do that? I just did the opposite, ditched the small block in favor of that exact drivetrain you have there. It is hands down the best running little truck in the fleet, and it'll outwork the sbc without breaking a sweat. I say clean it up and drive it, you'll make your $200 back in "utility" value the first day.

I do and I don't think they are staggered, it's just the angle of the pic. Plus the thermostat housing/water pump area screams 250. The 292 is different in that area too. I could be wrong, but rarely am

You got a lot more truck in better shape for less money than what I started with. Excellent score.

Man, you shure bought a piece of crap....would you take $250 for it???

Seriously, VERY NICE SCORE! Pictures are deceiving, but it looks to me like minor body work and you've got yourself one sweet ride. I drove mine with a 250 six for about 6 years. Damn good motor. The 3sp and 3.73 rear-end are what sucked. Too low geared of a combo. It's perfectly fine though for "aound town" driving. I think I even got 13mpg if I kept her around 55. Swap in a "car style" 4 speed or an OD and it would be sweet.

PS, did you seriously only pay $200 for it??

a car 4 speed won't help MPG much if at all....the final drive ratio is still one to one and the rear gear is still a screamer.

Like I said...I don't know inlines...if you say 250....then I'll go with that.
It may well be the angle of the photo...

I'd always heard it was a little better. I prefer a 350 with OD, but to each his own. I think the motor is a 250, hard to tell. Still a sweet deal.

check the position of the distributor. it is at the front of the motor. cant remember which engine that means, but it is clearly not in the center, as one of them is.

I think it's the fuel pump you're alluding to. It gets swapped in positioning because of the staggered mounts. The distributer is always in the position shown regardless.

yeah, now that i think about it, the cams don't interchange, so that could be pump or distributor. i could have sworn the hei model i took off a camaro 250 was in yhe center, but that was a few years ago. measure the side cover height for us wouldja?

Yes I paid only 200 dollars for it, It belonged to this man who passed away 2 years ago, and the wife just wanted to get rid of it. This is what you call being at the right place at the right time. The truck is intact and the motor is how it looks on the pic, it has the carbuator on the top left on the motor and the distrubutor in the front. Everything on the picture is how the motor is. Its all in its right place. I will be restoring the truck, It might take make some time but I will do it, When I showed this truck to the wife she said, what the hell do you think your doing buying that piece of junk, If she only knew. lol. But thanks for all the information yall have given me.
