Shipping a truck
I could use info on how to ship a truck and who to use. Any idea on rates. How does the process work.....paperwork wise, to ensure I actually will get the truck I pay for. Thanks

I used a guy that makes runs from NC to FL. Said he'd run north of NC if needed. He's a great guy with AWESOME rates. He trucked mine from NC to central FL for $400, I couldn't have went and got it myself for that price. His name is JW and his number is 704-855-9541, tell him Jim from Rockledge Fl passed on his info.

Auto shipping can be a painful experience. I had a truck shipped from calif. to mich for 700.00. It took 2 months and a ton of phone calls. The cheapest route will be from terminal to terminal, and the most expensive would be door to door. If you are considering a company to do it, I can tell you who not to go with. Best of luck.

Very large box
Packing peanuts Big label I shipped a car with DAS a few years ago. It was "independent contractor" on both ends and I ASSume the middle part as well. Car went from Austin, TX to Boston, MA and was ~ $900 (including $100 premium to be top car-- supposed to be less rock chip issues... open hauler ). Car arrived at destination terminal with dent in left quarter and broken spoiler/bumper fascia (these were undoubtedly broken when they pulled the car off the truck... very low car, but thoroughly "understood" by DAS in advance). I'd be hard pressed to choose them again.

I am going through this right now. Here's what I am doing...
http://www.ytmag.com/cgi-bin/haulquery.pl Put an ad on there...what you have, where it is, and where it needs to go. You'll get calls and emails from all kinds of people. Or, search through the ads to see if you can find someone hauling in the areas you need hauled. Before you hire anyone, make sure you talk to them, check for references, and ask specific questions. I'm happy with the guy I am using right now...John Michels. And if/when my truck shows up in Michigan in one piece, I'll be even happier!

shipping info
I used Salina transport out of Washinton State but he hauls East to West every week and North South on the West Coast everyday. He charged $580. from Los Angeles to to the Canadian border, and that included the $150. charge for winch on and off. Owners name is Serquei 206-372-4845.

title
Greg.
I had him mail me the signed title, and the vehicle shipping charge was cash on delivery. Hope that helped. By the way if, you use the auto broker shipping method on line, you are just giving them $150.00 to hook you up with a trucking company. They will ask for a $150.00 deposit which is actually their fee for sending out for quotes. The actual rate for hauling is what I paid to the driver. Darrell.. Last edited by lazygaurd; 03-03-2005 at 11:41 AM. |
