Lowering Tips???
Hey i am planning on lowering my truck and i hvae rear leaf suspension I was just wondering what is the easiest way to lower my truck? ... I want at least 4-5 inch drop in the fornt and rear, i heard puttin the rear end on top of the leafs gives it a good 3 inch drop and then also dearching the springs can give ya also some more drop, Just wanted some more opinions on this before i do it! thanks!

I don't know how much of a drop flipping the axle would get you, but Early Classic makes 4" drop leaf springs and 1.5" drop shackles...that's 5.5" of extremely easy to bolt on drop. At that height, though, I'd seriously consider a c-notch; I've thought about it and I've just got the 4" springs.

Flipping the axle should net you a 5-6" drop on a leaf truck. this will also require a c notch in the frame for clearance. Up front , I would look at a 2 1/2" drop spindle,& a 1 1/2 or 2" drop spring,to keep geometry as it should be. i did an axle flip on my longhorn, & relocated the spring brackets to raise it back up a little(didnt want to notch the frame)........i think it would be far easier to do a shackle,& 4 " drop spring to get the height that you want. Flipping the rear to on top of the leafs will give you about 6" of drop and you will need to notch the frame like said above.
I would also suggest dropped spindles and about a 2" drop coil in the front. My truck has the rear flip done and 3" drop coils in the front, heres a pic:

Early Classic Enterprises sells lowered leaf springs at http://www.earlyclassic.com Everything they sell is high quality. On the front, use lowered spindles to achieve most of the drop. That way, you still have a decent ride and suspension travel.

I just finished my C-10 .
I went with 2" dropped spindles and 2" dropped springs in the front and flipped the rear for 6" drop rear. It now has that smooth leveled look. With the DISC. brake front 2" spindle kit and 2" springs and the rear "C" section flip kit it all came to about $1000.00 and now I need a proportioning valve for another $100.00. But I feel it's done the proper way, That is as soon as I get it down to the front end shop for an alignment. RON |

Hey Ron, what you did with your lowering kit is eactly what I want to do as well...I was just wondering where you got your stuff through and if you have a picture of your truck that i could see or something that would be great!...and you said a 4" front and 6" rear drop is level? if y cn just get abck to me n that info that would be awsome thanks!

Dude go to a spring shop and have your springs dearced it super cheep about 20 per side is what i paid it costed 120 Canadian. for u bolts new bushing and springs dearced about 3 inches .and you wont have the problems with getting the pinion angle right . Western Chassis sells a drop shackle for 69 ameriacn worked really nice I have it all together now the only problem I might have is the shackle might hit the box cross sill support frame thing .
