Engine help
What should I do, I have a 350 waiting to go in my truck. It has about 325 hp, I only put chrome accesories on it and the intake, so about 400 bucks. I did work for a guy to pay for the engine. Now I have a chance for a 396, from the same guy my boss. I set the 350 in my truck and it is dwarfed by that engine compartment. Now I dont know what to do. I love how a big block sounds and looks in thes trucks. but my 350 just needs a carb to run. Please help. I could kepp the 350 for another project or sell it too a friend, so that isnt a problem there.

I have the 350 in mine but i would go for the big block.Bigger is always better.......lol

my thoughts as well, the price of building a 396 is more. but there is no replacement for displacement. I would do some work for the engine so it wont cost me anything other than time

IMO...put the 350 in and spend some time building up the big block, then do whatever with the 350 when you're done tuning up the BB the way you want it.

The truck isn't ready to roll yet. I still have all the body work to do yet, so it isn't the difference between driving or being parked.

If it is to become a daily driver you had better stay with the small block. If it will just be a weekend toy, go BIG!

Go for the big block but like was said earlier put the 350 in for now, just as something so you can drive it when you get the body done. then build that li'l rat into one mean li'l sucker!

If you're going to spend the money, and time to go through a big block don't build a 396. The horsepower is a lot more affordable with a sbc.

probably going with the 396. The 350 will be going up for sale, a buddy may buy it or it will go in the bargain finder. The money from selling it will be put towars a pair of performer rpm heads for the 396
