need help

My leafs on my 84 burb have bottomed out... I want to upgrade to 3/4 ton springs...but im wondering if these springs are completly worthless??

which ones? the old current ones or the 3/4 ton springs? *usually* once they've lost the tension theyre useless, unless its going onto a lowered truck or get them rearched

if you have a spring shop near you, take them there & get them re-arched & have a couple of extra springs added to it. that way u get back good springs w/new rubber bushings. at least thats what i would do & have done, cost me a whole $150 to have a set done a few yrs back.......joe

Thanks joe... thats what I needed to hear. I guess I should have been a little more clear... My sub is currently a 1/2 ton.... and I want to upgrade to a 3/4 ton...

How effective is re-arched springs??? wouldnt they loose there elastisity faster??

they are heat treated just like when they are new. as long as none of the springs are messed up(rusted/pitted badly or cracked/broke) there wont be a problem(springs shops do it all the time also). what they will basicly do is this, they will recut some of the old springs to be able to put more springs into the bunch. just tell them what ur doing & if they have any idea what they are doing thhey'll understand what ur trying to do. years ago i took a 1954 chevy 1/2 ton & had springs added to it & the guy told me that it was now a "heavy" 3/4ton truck or almost a 1ton because of how he made the springs. still road like a stock 54chevy truck would but was able to load that mother down w/whatever ya wanted too....
