Booster
I'm going to replace my Delco power booster this weekend and was wondering where is the best place to disconnect the brake pedal; in the cab and pull the pedal rod into the engine compartment or take the pedal push rod loose where it connects "with" the booster bracket in the engine compartment near the firewall? I was planning on removing the booster mounting bracket to clean it up a little.

Easiest thing to do is disconnect it from the brake pedal. It's a PITA to do it the other way.

Seems like I disconnected booster at firewall no prob. Don't forget the gasket between booster and MC.

You know I read about a gasket between the two in one other post. Is it a flat gasket or more of a formed seal? If I can't find one at the NAPA or CQ, if it's flat, I could at least make one?

The firewall seals look like a diaphram and are available new. Removing the rod from the inside is tricky also as the steering column is in the way and has to be dropped to clear the bolt.

Hummmmm,
It looks like the firewall connection is just a clipped pin, and although it may prove tricky from the standpoint of getting your fingers in there........well I may flip a coin and let everyone know Thanks for the replies. Any info on the gasket between the MC and Booster(see above)?

I have never seen a gasket between the MC and the booster. There is a seal in the booster itself but I have never been able to locate a source for them.
The firewall seals are usually bad so I thought that you may want to get one. Jim |
