Question converting A/C Pump to Compressor

Has anyone ever converted a A/C pump over to make it a compressor for on board air? I know jeep and bronco guys do it with a york compressor. But i have read that you can also do it to a chevy one. I would like to use a chevy one as long as it pumps as much as the yorks do. Any Help would be great. I know 4x4 tend to do this to inflate there tires on trails if they bust beads or to run air tools

Here is a webpage on the install of a York compressor. It explains why to use York (oiling system) and which one to use. I plan on doing this myself sometime in the future. http://coloradok5.com/york.shtml
