My brother in law was looking at that picture, his response was classic, "What's wrong with it?"

I really feel for the guy!!!!!!!!
I'm debating on how to mount my BLAUPUNKT in my new dash .... Now most of you probably know what the SAN FRANSISCO cost. I made a special aluminum front plate for it in the dash I have now BUT I'm going to install an AIR dash in it and it has never been butchered, I'm having a nervous breakdown trying to figure out how to do it or if I want to do it. What does it matter it's MY truck and whatever I do to it is making me happy, RIGHT? but it's a beautiful NEVADA rust free dash that I want to replace the old one with and it's never been thrashed, but without cutting on it my BLAUPUNKT will not go in. OOHHH hell,,,,, there it goes again another night without sleep :p RON |

Hey who gave you a picture of my dash? I bet it was the clown who sold me the truck. Have been enjoying reading the posts about cutting the dash hoping to get some creative way to fix mine. Bottom line don't cut if you don't have the means to repair. A hack job is a hack job.

That pic shows exactly how foolish it is to cut up a classic dash. Ron, check out Custom Autosound, I have one and they are great, and no cutting! Put the blaupunkt in something that deserves to be butchered, he-hee!

Maybe I'm by myself on this one, but I totally disagree with you guys. I cut my dash for the CD player almost immediately after I bought it. I can't see saving something like that for an item that doesn't even exist anymore. I never heard anyone say "yeah, how do you like my *****in am radio?" I know they make the cd controllers that fit in the existing holes, but that seems like such a hassle. It's 2002. But I'm "new school" and like to modify stuff to MY liking..... dont care what anyone else thinks. Case in point..... my flames

Yeah that's mine and NO ,,,,,, I DID NOT DO IT !!!!!!! Was like that when I bought it. But hey ,,,,, $500 for a '68 longhorn, I wasn't lookin' for perfection. Hopefully soon I will get it fixed. Still trying to figure out how to do it without cutting and welding. Any ideas from the voters in this contest would be greatly appreciated. Oh yeah,,,,,,, where can I pick up my prize money ??? LOLOL

I would cut out a plate of alum that would even surround the ash tray. Looks like the top bar of it is missing also. Cover it with some of that sticker material that looks like carbon fiber?
You may be able to get a thin sheet of plywood and cover it like you see on the inside of door panels. Good luck...

Hey Rod ,,,,,, was thinking along those lines. Maybe something in wood since it has a woodgrain glovebox door and I can get a woodgrain instrument cluster. Maybe make it the same shape as the glovebox door and instrument cluster ,,,, only upside down !!

Looks like mine. No, I didnt do it either. But I will weld in a patch panel, and guess what, I'll cut it again, the right way. Anyone got a problem with it? Come by it for $40,000. I mean how many 70 short steps can be out there???
