need some advice

this is how I am wanting to set up my bags.Just want to see if there are any problems with my plan.I'm going to have an extra port in the right tank for another compressor if it turns out I need it.Am I on the right track?

Looks good to me. The only thing you might want to do is run a gauge per bag, Witht the heavy trucks, when you go around corners you might get air transfer from bag to bag, Running a sway will help but thats the only thing I really see...The extra port you also might want to run a schreader vale so if the compressor fails you have a way to fill the tanks at any gas station.

Adding a second gauge isn't going to help with that (in fact, they'll both read the same value). He's going to need separate valve sets for each corner to eliminate side-to-side transfer... and yes, it's a pretty big deal on these trucks. I rubbed the sidewall off my rear tires in about 6 months before getting my second set of valves to go 4-way. Since then the rubbing is gone.


edit: Oops... just studied the diagram a little more closely. Yes, what 1low1967 said. Two gauges needed.

Also, I don't know the specs on the Viair 380, but 8 gallons is a LOT to ask of most compressors. I've got 6 gallons (2 x 3) with 2 Thomas 315's and that's pretty much their limit.

Check out the air ride diagrams I have on my web site.

I'd also recommend an inline filter. My diagrams show the filter between the compressor and the tank. I now think that it'd be better located between the tank and the valves. The tank will act as a "pre-filter" to remove some of the condensation and dirt out of the air. Any dirt/water that doesn't settle in the tank will be trapped in the filter. That's just my opinion.

Am I missing something?It looks like a basic 4way set up.he has a fill and a dump for each bag,so no air transfer.I agree with gauges for each bag.I would think You would want to keep as much water out of the tank as possible.

My guess is that he is using dual needle gauges. One for the front and one for the back so all should be good.

May well be. Based on the diagram, there's only one air line feeding the gauge. If that's just an oversight or a simplification of a dual gauge setup, then there's no air transfer weirdness to worry about.

thanks for the input guys and just to clear it up,I messed up on the drawing,I will be running dual needle gauges so the air transfer shouldn't be an issue.The filter/water trap is now in the plans.
Can anyone confirm what XXL suspects about the Viair 380 not being enough pump?
One last thing.I was dreaming about running a line from the tank into the cab behind the seat or something.I was gonna put a female quick connect on it and store a hose somewhere that I could use to air the tires or put air in the tank if the compressor dies (thanks for that one 1low1967).Anyone try this with any success?

I hav and will be running a engine driven compressor. I've filled 15 galllons of air from 0 to 175 in just over 2 min. at idle with a 4 banger. Depending on where you put ur tank you could run it of the tank itself, but I would see a problem with it in the cab. Just putting o hole in the cab with a groment.

cool I'll be running a line into the cab then.How bout the compressor?Is it enough to keep up to 8 gals?It's rated at 200psi max and is 100% duty.
