Question 79 4x4 ps gear box into 71 blazer?

Jamie 72 and I are working a deal on a PS gear box for my 71blazer. He found a 79 4x4 parts truck and the belief is that the PS gear box is the same. Anyone with any first hand experience here that can verify? Would 1/2 ton verses 3/4 ton make a difference?Thanks---Huck

This is what Hollanders shows will work:

BLAZER/JIMMY (full size) 69-76 Power Steering; 4x4
CHEVROLET PICKUP TRUCK 69-76 Power Steering; 4x4
GMC PICKUP TRUCK 69-76 Power Steering; 4x4
SUBURBAN 69-76 Power Steering; 4x4

7825868 $545 obs

Less upper jacket, upper shaft, pitman arm, shifting mech. and wheel
1249 fits by including coupler.

It also shows these will work:
BLAZER/JIMMY (full size) 77-79 Power Steering; 4x4
CHEVROLET PICKUP TRUCK 77-79 Power Steering; 4x4
GMC PICKUP TRUCK 77-79 Power Steering; 4x4
SUBURBAN 77-79 Power Steering; 4x4

464160 '77-78 $585 obs
7832402 '79 $585 obs
Less upper jacket, upper shaft, pitman arm, shifting mech. and wheel.

959 fits by including coupler.

It looks like the 79 box will work if you get the coupler (I assume this is the rag joint).

The gear boxes are the same externally buthte gearing inside is different. It should bolt right up and it doesn't make a difference between 1/2 and 3/4. The rag joint may be different but they are easy to get.
