Lift kit vs Tire size
Got a 70 short bed that I want to put a 35 tires on. It seems as if lift kit web sites are telling me that I need 6 inch lift.
Unfortunatly I havent had much luck finding 6 inches of springs.. I really dont want to stick a body lift on the truck. A friend told me he used engery urithane suspention bushings with a 4 in and he fit 35s just fine.. but that was a 85 truck. Anybody know if i can get away with a 4 inch lift with 35s? I want bds suspention as they seem to have a real good product but they only come in 4 in for my year. others make 6 in kits but they are just add a leafs and I really want all new springs... anybody? |

You can get away witha 4" lift for the street.Off road,it will hit when you flex at all.6" is a minimum for off road.I have a 4" tuff country all spring lift.I do not take my blazer off road.

Like Smoke said, it's all in what you want to use it for. I plan on running a 4" lift in my Blazer w/35's and do not plan on wheeling it. The p/u has a 6"lift in it and I'll be running 35's with that also.

tuff country has 2,4 and 6" all spring lifts for our year trucks. I have their 2" HD front springs and 4" rear springs on my GMC and will have their 6" springs on my Chevy shortly.

I kept the drivetrain. Body/bad and chassis are gone. 1981 K30, 350/465/205 dana 60 and dually 14 bolt. Has a G80, and a flat bed. Going to replace the flat bed. 1985 K20, 350/400/208 10 bolt and SF 14 bolt. I wonder where I can find some 1 tons. Hmmmmm |

You should not have any problem running 35's with a 4" lift.

BTW, it seems the 73-87 trucks have more fender opening clearance than the 67-72's.
That might explain why your friend is getting away with 4" and 35's. |

Look at Suspension Connection for 6 inch tuff country lifts. I got my 4 inch lift through them and was pretty happy.

lift v tire size is all proportional to how much cutting you want to do.

I put a superlift 6" in mine with 35s and 10"wide rims. Wheel width will help too............
