Disk Brake conversion questions
I really like the idea of using newer model components as they are a bit cheaper and more readily available and I want to have 6 lugs rotors. As such I have been doing quite a bit of reading through his forum and the FAQ concerning a drum to disk conversion. http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...d.php3?t=35042
One which was mentioned in the FAQ was done by using a 1/2 ton upper A-arm with a 3/4 ton lower and all other other components from a 1990 1/2 ton (ball joints, 3/4 ton spindle, tie rods, etc). I have a 1968 GMC 2500 that I have basically converted to a 1/2 ton with the exception of the front suspension and drum brakes. As I am going to be rummaging around the yards this weekend I was wondering, can I use my existing upper and lower arms (3/4 ton) then use all of the remaining components from say an 88 to 91 1/2 ton? I plan on using the spindles that support the 1.25 inch 6 lug rotors... Or is the upper 3/4 arm to large/offset to use in this configuration?

You will need a 1/2 ton upper a-arm because the newer model spindle is offset.
