Some help

If you phone any United States Customs Office they can tell you exactly what you have to do. The biggest problem you have in the US is the EPA stuff which most Canadian Provinces dont deal with. I do believe that if you are importing a vehicle oldr than 25 years into the USA from Canada it is emissions excempt federally but check with the State you are going to register it in.

My brother just imported 2 trucks from the USA.He has to pay a $182.50 charge to import each one here. And it must meet canadian safty stanatards(daytime running lights).I was at the boarder crossing and if the trucks were older then 15 years then he would not have paid the money. But that was importanting and american truck to canada

I agree with Already Gone. Plus make sure ALL the numbers are correct. Have them send photos of the body VIN plate and check for proper attachment and frame VIN (stamped) and check for validity (no grinding marks). If they don't want to send photos and a scanned copy of the title then you should stay away from it.

Canada does not have titles on vehicles

Also make sure he does't have any cattle in the bed. That still seems to be a pretty touchy subject.
