I didn't use the brace that goes from the exhaust manifold up to the a/c compressor when I changed to headers on my '85.

The a/c comp ended up vibrating until it cracked.

I have another compressor now, but I don't want to put it on until I get some kind of brace to go from the headers up to the comp.
Any ideas?

If this is the bracket that attaches to the rear of the compressor, you can modify the bracket to work with the headers. You can grind the opening in the attaching legs to fit over the header tubes and install it with either long bolts and spacers or double ended studs at the header flange.

i havent put my headers on because i need to make spacers for my comp i have a 78 chevy with factory a/c

my dad put the hedman's on our 454, so i dont know what he did.

I kept the bracket and trimmed the heck out of it. I built another bolt to mount the bracket just like it was originally ( bolt through the front header bolt hole and then out through the bracket to hold it in place) and then powder coated everything. The bracket only has the bottom mounting bolt on it for the A/C unit and then it has the slide bolt for the power steering pump. It looks pretty fair, in my book.

Here are a few pictures of mine. I had to do some grinding on bracket to get the fit right. Hope this helps. As you can see I have a new compressor to put in place of this one. That is why there is no belt on the old one.

I just made a spacer out of a pipe. Just cut it to fill in the difference of thickness between the old exhaust and the headers.
